Fawlty Towers – For The Record

Fawlty Towers - For The Record (BBC/Demon, 2021).

I’m very pleased to announce that I’ve written the sleevenotes for a long overdue box set reissue of all four Fawlty Towers albums – Fawlty Towers, Second Sitting, At Your Service and A La Carte – along with the first ever vinyl issue for two further albums featuring the remaining episodes which have previously only been available on cassette and CD. The albums have been newly remastered and are all complete and uncut – yes, genuinely uncut – and in the accompanying booklet you can find out much more about the background to the series and the original albums, which at the time were the only way of enjoying the series again between repeat showings. Although there were some notable differences to the transmitted versions, but more about them when you read it…

The albums – featuring new linking material by Andrew Sachs in character as Manuel – are presented in replicas of the original sleeves, and there’s also a limited edition vinyl set which comes with a print signed by John Cleese. All that’s missing for your listening pleasure are herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain…
